Westhampton library trustees examine competing budget scenarios for FY27 amid town fiscal constraints. Director Meaghan Schwelm reported the Finance Committee has requested a level-service budget and a 12.5 percent reduction option, warning that cuts below the state's Minimum Annual Requirement of $136,409 would eliminate state aid and grant eligibility. The library received its first state aid award of $3,427.83.
Children's programs drew 106 attendees and adult programs 116 in the reporting period; circulation dropped slightly to 1,580 items from 1,649 the prior year. The Friends of the Library committed $3,000 annually for landscaping costs to offset budget pressure.
