WESTHAMPTON — Planning Board defers motocross decision as Main Road neighbors clash. The board heard three hours of public testimony on Aaron Bauer's special permit application to host one-day motocross races twice yearly on his 17-acre property in the Water Supply Protection District, with approximately 245 riders and 420 total participants expected at the June 28, 2026 event. Supporters, including a water district operator and race promoter representative, testified that a similar 2024 event caused no environmental impact or measurable contamination.
Opponents, including two Main Road abutters citing noise-related PTSD effects, and attorney Catherine Mis representing multiple neighbors, argued the event violates zoning restrictions and sets problematic precedent for commercial use on agricultural land. The board voted unanimously to continue the hearing to February 5, 2026 without deliberating or deciding.
