Library trustees approve FY27 budget draft for Finance Committee review

Westhampton Public Library trustees unanimously advanced the FY27 budget draft to the Finance Committee. Director Meaghan Schwelm reported January attendance of 321 across 32 programs and circulation of 1,813 items. She detailed constraints from Massachusetts state aid waiver rules requiring a minimum 18 percent materials spending threshold, warning that staff reductions, shortened hours, and program cuts may become necessary if municipal funding falls short.
The Friends of the Library received an anonymous $25,000 donation and elected new officers: President Jo Martin, Clerk Anita Goddard, and Treasurer Judy Wayne.
