Finance Committee approves prior minutes; joint boards discuss failed override

Finance Committee · Meeting of April 15, 2026

Westhampton's Finance Committee and Selectboard chart deficit response after failed override. The joint meeting on April 15 came after voters rejected a Proposition 2-1/2 override, 314 to 373, leaving a remaining budget gap of $389,893 after recent adjustments. Finance Committee Chair Weiss outlined three options, reserves and free cash, cuts, or a second override, and conducted a straw poll showing roughly equal division among Finance Committee members on approach.

The boards reached general consensus that a comprehensive review of all budget lines would be required to identify savings, with final budget approval needed by May 6.
